Facts are the Difference

Question: American Al Gore was recently awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in sounding the alarm about global warming. I have read your responses on October 6, 2006 and May 29, 2007 about global warming. For those who are beginning to question the validity of man's involvement as a catalyst for global warming, you were way ahead of the curve. But what makes you right and the Nobel Prize judges and Gore wrong? Amy Peabody, Ottawa, Quebec.

Answer: Facts, Amy. Facts make me right and Gore wrong. The number one determining factor in the temperature of the earth is the sun. (That is an undisputed scientific fact.) The sun goes through regular cycles of relative brightness and relative dimness. (That is an undisputed scientific fact.) Man has absolutely no control over the sun or its cycles. (That is an undisputed scientific fact.) If somehow we could magically turn off all the vehicles and manufacturing plants, the difference it would make to the earth's temperature is so small that it is totally insignificant. It would not matter. (While this is not a scientific fact, computer models have shown it to be accurate.) The entire man-made or man-caused global warming issue is nothing more than a scam. (My personal conclusion.) And twenty or thirty years from now it will be as obvious to everyone else as it is to me today. People of the near future will look back at today's newspaper, television and magazine articles and wonder how we could "all" have been so gullible.

I like your no-nonsense attitude man. I had not even thought of the obvious statement you made about the sun. Of course the sun is the main cause of temperature. I read your other global warming answers. Good stuff.
