Why not more?

Question: Why is it, Dr. Andrews, that you do not answer more questions? I really like your blog and visit every day. I am always hoping that there is a new answer. But usually, there is not. Why do you not do more with this blog? Why don't you have an answer everyday? Mel Perth, Nassau, Bahamas
Answer: There are several reason why I don't have a more active blog. Primarily, I only answer questions that either interest me or through which I think I might be able to help someone. Most of the questions I have recently received deal with politicians or Anna Nicole Smith. I have absolutely no interest in Smith and very little in politicians. While the blog is international in scope, in reality, it has become more of a blog for people in the United States. You Mel, being from the Bahamas, may have some interest in Smith. But I do not. You Mel, being from the Bahamas, may not have any interest in American politicians. And I have very little. But most of my recent questions have dealt with American politicians who are already running for President of our country. For me, it is simply way too early to be bothered by such nonsense. I really do not begin to get interested until after both political conventions. And I almost always already know by then for whom I will vote. Consequently, American politics is boring and pointless for me. I do vote but I waste very little of my time reading about politicians or watching them on television.
This reminds me of a question I just received about Al Gore and the Oscars. I have addressed the issue of global warming in a previous answer but this reminds me of Benjamin Franklin's saying "Don't waste time . . . for that is the stuff that life is made of." I simply will not give Al Gore and the Oscars any of my time (any of my life). I say this because I do not think that they are worth any of my life (time). Al Gore is completely and totally irrelevant to me as are the Oscars. Neither mean a single thing to me. Why would I spend any of my time (life) considering either of them? Do you see what I mean? This is why I chose not to respond to the question about the Oscars and Al Gore. This is one of the major reasons I do not have a daily blog answer for you.
I do appreciate that you enjoy my blog and wish it were done daily. But I have no interest in doing a daily blog. I am content to answer one or two questions a month.

Everytime I think one of your responses cannot possibly get any better, you answer another question and it is even better. I understand what you are saying and I agree with you. I am through giving any of my time (life) to liberal idiots like Gore. Let them rant and rave and applaud each other. I will be like you and totally ignore them. They simply, as you say, are not worth any of my attention. I like this already!

I have read and re-read this answer three times and you know what? It has truly hit a chord with me. You are so right. I am the one who gets to decide how I spend my time (life). From now on, I am finished watching all that liberal nonsense on TV--including the evening news. My time (life) is too important to waste any of it on such meaningless nonsense as Al Gore and the Oscars. You are so right! And I am with you. Thanks for your "answer."

This is so right. There are many things in this world that I pay way too much attention to. Not anymore. You are right. Why did I waste my time (life) watching the Oscars? It wasn't entertaining. It makes no difference in my life who wins and who does not. I will not waster any more of my time (life) on such nonsense. Global warming in another one. Like you said, the only people who will waster time on it or Al Gore are non-thinking people. I refuse to be in that category any longer. I am going to be much more careful with my time. It is my life and I must be the one who chooses how to spend the time that is given to me. I will no longer spend any of it on nonsense like lying politicians, global warming or Hollywood. Thank you!

I love this attitude! I am joining you in ignoring all the stupid things that go on around us. You are right. Why should I spend any of my time (life) on nonsense when I have the decision whether or not I want to? I shouldn't. From now on, I won't.

This is a wonderful philosophy that you have started here. I truly like it. I like how the other people are responding in a favorable way as am I. Franklin was right in saying that time is the stuff that life is made of and one should not waste any of it. I will join you in ignoring the liberal media and spend my time living my life. Thank you.

Man, you are too cool. I love this philosophy of not wasting time on things without any significance to you. You are exactly right. All this media mess with celebrities. I tell my girlfriend that she is wasting her time watching all those stupid celebrity news shows. I mean, like you said, what in the world difference does it make to my girlfriend or to me which celebrity is dating who, sleeping with who, having a baby, getting a divorce, getting married or any other such thing? I absolutely am not going to waste any more of my time (life) with such nonsense.

I'm with you! I now refuse to spend any part of my life wasting it on silly "news" like what celebrities are doing. You are absolutely right. What difference does it make to me? None! Why should I spend time watching "news" about people I will never meet and who play absolutely no role in my life? I shouldn't and now, I won't! Thank you!

My husband spends the majority of every weekend watching sports. He watches football, ice hockey, baseball, golf and even bowling. About the only thing he won't watch is basketball and wrestling. I admit that I spent a lot of time watching celebrity news shows. I should say "spent," not spend. I don't anymore. And I don't miss it. I actually use my time (life) for more constructive things and things that actually benefit me. I've tried to tell my husband about this new philosophy of yours but he doesn't get it. He still wants to watch as much sports as he can. To me, that is a complete waste of time (life).
